I am passionate about what I do and will be dedicated to providing the services you need.
For over 10 years, I have worked as a paralegal in a law firm and title insurance company. My work experience provided me invaluable knowledge and growth that cannot be taught in a classroom. However, in order to work in the legal field efficiently, education is essential. I graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies and after working a few years at a law firm, I decided to continue my education and obtained a paralegal certification from the National Association of Legal Assistants. Use of the CP credential indicates that a legal assistant/paralegal is capable of providing superior services to attorneys. The credential has been recognized by the American Bar Association and law firms throughout the country as an indicator of skill level. Continuing education is required in order to maintain the certification.
A couple years later, I realized that attorneys had to focus all their energy on the legal aspect of their job, leaving little or no time to properly manage a small business. Performing the administrative tasks to manage a small firm is not the most valuable use of an attorney’s time, so it often gets overlooked or mishandled. Solo/Small law firms think they save money by cutting corners and not spending the money needed on the administrative and technology support, but it really costs more money! Hiring an individual not qualified for the job will consume the firm’s resources and not utilizing technology advances wastes time. There will be missed deadlines, disorganized files, headaches, stress and worse–malpractice claims. I decided to return to school and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Management. With the knowledge and skills I acquired, I was able to transition my paralegal position to my home office–saving the business money and still producing the work–and have successfully been working virtually ever since.
